B&M's (Bolliger & Mabillard) first winged rollercoaster has debuted at Gardaland in Italy. Here's some of the first pictures.
"The attraction – on which Gardaland has been working for nine months but which has been in the making for two years – cost a startling €20 million," according to the park's CEO Aldo Vigevani. This makes it the most expensive attraction ever at an Italian amusement park.
Riders on Raptor sit in pairs either side of the track in massive 28-seat train with a wingspan of 6.5-metres. During the 41-second ride they travel along a 770-metre long track featuring a 33-metre drop, three inversions and multiple water interactions. The ride's theme is based around a winged predator which has awoken from its sleep to devastate the park and its surroundings.
